@kylemonkey also when you squeeze, the line gets hot and worns itself out with stress and surface tension of the hook. saliva helps that too =)
you forgot to lick it. a little moisture will make that knot close up better

You should try a Palomar Knot it is more reliable

@damnwindowshopper if you dont moisten it it will create friction and the line could get nicked or cut when you tighten it and u could lose the fish
Sorry this might be a dumb question but why do you have to moisten it before clinching???..
